As a therapist, I work from two main modailties. The first is Narrative Therapy, which I find to be a deeply respectful and anti-oppressive way of working with people. I first fell in love with narrative therapy as a social work student, and have been lucky enough to learn from many skilled practitioners who have taught me how to work with deep empathy, skill and creativity.
Along with this, I am also a somatic therapist. Somatic therapy can be considered a bottom-up approach to healing. Using this method, we will invite the body into the therapy room to help process trauma and regulate the nervous system. Specifically, I pull from both somatic experiencing and generative somatics when doing this work.
Overall, I take a collaborative, client-centred approach to therapy. Everyone is a little different, so I bring in tools and resources that seem most suited to the person in front of me. Feminism, anti-racism and social justice are core values that are central to my practice.
